Project Overview: Leading by Example in Green Building Design

CIS aims to be a leader in green building design. As part of this vision, solar panels have been installed on the roof to reduce the school’s carbon footprint, and older buildings are being upgraded from single glazed to double glazed windows to improve energy efficiency.

Partnering with JEB, CIS specified a comprehensive BIPV installation that includes:

• 800 m² of high-performance BIPV glass on the rooftop
• 710 m² of photovoltaic panels integrated into the façades
• A total system capacity of 65.685 kWp, expected to generate approximately 52,257 kWh of clean electricity annually
  

Beyond Buildings: A Living, Sustainable Community

CIS’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond infrastructure. The school established a Community Garden in 2018, complete with an irrigation system and various planter boxes. Supported by two local farmers who assist with sourcing seedlings and seeds, the garden is tended by parents, teachers, and students. The produce grown is donated to local elderly homes and homeless shelters, exemplifying CIS’s dedication to community engagement and social responsibility.

The client’s office entrance and meeting rooms were equipped with JEB’s best-selling X-Series double-glazed partitions. These partitions were chosen to complement the meeting room’s distinctive curved feature wall, creating a bold architectural statement while enhancing spatial flow in the reception area. The double-glazed design ensures excellent acoustic performance, providing privacy and minimising sound transfer.

In the collaborative social zone, our ultra-slim-frame Summit Partition system and Sliding Doors were selected for their space-saving design and exceptional acoustic performance. The sliding doors feature a bottom-hung mechanism with tighter seals, significantly reducing sound transfer. This design not only maximises space but also maintains a sleek, modern aesthetic that aligns perfectly with the client’s vision.

For smaller meeting rooms, JEB partition systems and Studio doors were specified. These were integrated with various design elements to provide essential privacy and acoustic control, ensuring a cohesive look throughout the workspace. The seamless integration of these components allowed for a smooth flow between different areas of the office.

To complete the workspace transformation, we also supplied a curated selection of loose furniture. This included JEB’s ergonomic seating, storage units, and 9AM Inc.’s height-adjustable desks. These furniture pieces foster a productive environment by promoting comfort and flexibility. The height-adjustable desks allow employees to switch between sitting and standing, enhancing overall well-being and contributing to a more dynamic workspace.
